An inspirational Awards ceremony recognising and celebrating the difference sport makes to community life across the region
The Categories for 2016 include Coach of the Year, Community Club of the Year, Community Project of the Year and Aspiring Talent, as well as two special BBC awards; the BBC Local Radio Power of Sport Award and BBC Unsung Hero Award, the winner of which is put forward for the national title at BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
One individual or team will also be inducted into the BBC Midlands Sporting Hall of Fame, joining previous winners including Sir Stanley Matthews, Dennis Amiss, Gordon Banks, Dave Moorcroft and Richie Woodall.
The West Midlands Community Sports Awards is run by six County Sports Partnerships to celebrate the power of sport in local communities.
Winners are selected locally and given a ‘golden ticket’ into the West Midlands Community Sports Awards, which will be held on Wednesday 30th November at Villa Park and hosted by Nick Owen and Mary Rhodes from BBC Midlands.
Organised by the 6 County Sports Partnerships in West Midlands – Sport Birmingham, Sport Across Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent (SASSOT), Herefordshire & Worcestershire, Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire Sport, Black Country BeActive Partnership and Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin nominate the very best newcomer’s, coaches, community clubs and projects at this high profile, star studded event.
