Given that the titular hero is meant to be over 6ft tall, and Cruise is 5’7, he was criticised for that. Used Jack Reacher (DVD) DescriptionFrom The New York Times bestselling author Lee Child comes one of the most compelling heroes to step from novel to screen - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise). A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims.

When an unspeakable crime is committed, all evidence points to the suspect in custody who offers up a single note in defence: "Get Jack Reacher! Given that between this and the prison scenes, it comes across as a daft ’80s Arnie film without major one-liners to break it up.Plus, the police have to put zip ties on his wrists because cuffs don’t fit him as he’s a Billy Big-Hands. Though somewhat convoluted, the plot is well conceived and the large cast supports Cruise's commanding presence nicely. The story takes a drastic twist as Reacher finds himself working with the defense attorney to proclaim her client’s innocence. Boasting all the amazing action set-pieces introduced in the first film entry, this sequel goes far and beyond to live up to the now-iconic name of Jack Reacher. Richard Jenkins and Robert Duvall do their usual excellent work, though it is Werner Herzog as a wildly over-the-top villain who makes things positively gleeful in his few scenes.

Jack is a bit of a smart-arse and quietly sarcastic, who lives off an army pension (which must be worth a fortune if he doesn’t have to actually earn a living), but no sooner has he attracted this unwanted attention, and he learns a man is dead, but our hero has very little to say about why he’s been arrested, other than the fact he hasn’t done it.As for our hero who tries to act all ‘Miss Marple’ in his occasionally methodical pursuit of the truth, at one point, he goes to use a car with the full knowledge of the police, even though earlier on we were told they couldn’t find any records of him, including a driving licence, since he lives his life off-grid. The rest of the time in the first two episodes I’ve seen so far, he just stands there staring like a NPC (non-player character) from a videogame who hasn’t been given any lines to say for this scene, and is happy to just stare into the middle distance. One takes place in the close confines of a tiny hallway and bathroom where Reacher faces down a posse of thugs armed with guns and a baseball bat, besting them all in a flurry of acrobatic brutality.

The law has its limits, but Reacher does not when his fight for the truth pits him against an unexpected enemy with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.

Even then, unless I wasn’t following it properly, the plot seems to chop and change, and doesn’t have an awful lot of coherence. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page.
