I started my sim racing career with the Logitech G29, which you can read more about here. This was a set with a wheel and pedals that was aimed at the entry level market of sim racing, but the T300RS seems to be an option for both beginners and experienced racers alike. The set I got came with pedals too, but I will discuss those in a separate article.

Here’s the big one, the question any potential wheel buyers need to answer: Logitech or Thrustmaster? On Logitech’s side, its pedals are better and we prefer the feel of the leather-topped G29 to the rubbery T300RS. The rim also has several buttons, with the central PS4 button at the bottom, with the D-pad on the left and the standard PlayStation buttons on the right. At the 4 corners of the central portion of the wheel are the L2, R2, Share and Start buttons, which are in fairly easy reach of your thumbs and can be programmed once again for various in-game functions. Interchangeable Rims PS5 games compatibility has been tested and endorsed by Thrustmaster. At stage of publication, PS5 compatibility of the full range has not been yet tested nor endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC. The exterior of the steering wheel part itself is also all-plastic, without the metal parts that make these wheels seem a bit less toy-like. One of the things that you need to know about the Logitech G29 Gaming Racing Wheel is that you will need to buy the shifter on the side. However, the manufacturer made it using plastic which won’t last for a very long time. You may also notice that you may have some problems when you want to shift your car into reverse. Predictably enough, then, the effect is halfway between the Logitech G29 and T300 RS. It’s smooth-ish, but not entirely, and you feel the effect of the geared motor as it pulls against you when you take a corner at high speed.Given the price, the results are great, though. The overall feel of the wheel is brilliant, and even the rubber rim feels good on the GT edition. It took very little getting used to, and I also enjoy the button placement on the rim. I find myself getting the most use out of the D-pad and the R2 button on the right-hand side, as these are within easy reach of my thumbs while driving. Is this the best PS4 wheel? Right now there are no perfect options, and just a few very good ones. The Logitech G29 sits among them, with a nice leather-upholstered wheel and plenty of PS4 specific controls. Logitech has also upgraded the G923's brake, for more progressive resistance on the depress, while the LED rev indicator and 24-Point selection dial from the Playstation 4 version of the G920 become standard for this wheel.However, the G923 has Logitech's helical gearing system under the hood, which does not provide as smooth a feel as the Thrustmaster T300 RS.

Fanatec and Thrustmaster charge a lot more for leather wheels. The Logitech G29 gets you higher-end extras at no extra cost. Its pedalboard is much better than anything else at the price too, with a board that has a clutch and very solid metal plates. It’s not plastic rubbish.
